New Apple Mac Pros Debut Today
Apple debuts two new Mac Pros today with some very serious power configurations and very expensive price tags. They have a quad-core version that starts at $2499 and an eight-core version that starts at $3299. The Apple products seem very expensive to me. Of course, I am a PC guy. Maybe someday I will get an Apple and convert.
Specs for the Quad-Core:
* One 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor

Possible upgrades include bumps in CPU speed, up to 8GB of RAM for the Quad-Core or up to 32GB of RAM for the 8-Core, a $700 Mac Pro RAID card, a 1TB hard drive, up to three additional hard drives (up to 1TB each), up to three additional NVIDIA cards or an ATI Radeon HD 4870 with 512MB of RAM, an additional DVD burner, as well as various display configurations and additional accessories.

Star Trek The Experience To Be Revived at a Different Venue
SCI FI Wire confirmed today that a contract has been signed with CBS/Paramount to reopen the Star Trek The Experience exhibit in Las Vegas on May 8. The new experience will have at least a new restaurant and retail shop to coincide with the opening of J.J. Abram’s Star Trek movie.
The new experience will moved downtown to the Neonopolis Center.
It’s expected that the new exhibit will feature similar rides as the old experience at the Hilton. The new plans envision a new version of Quark’s Restaurant and Bar, a Museum of the Future (probably will incorporate elements and characters from the new movie) and a shop.
This will help with the city’s effort to redevelop the older part of downtown Las Vegas which is situated at the end of the Strip of large casinos. It will make downtown into a more vibrant tourist and residential area. The Neonopolis project is one of the centerpieces of the area.

New Touchbook, Tablet Netbook
Here is a new angle on the laptop form factor. Kind of a netbook ,tablet combination innovation. The is called dubbed “Always Innovating”. The Touch Book is an ARM-powered netbook that weighs less than two pounds. They claim the battery life will last 10 to 15 hours. The innovative part of the laptop is when the screen is removed. The screen slides right out of it’s dock and acts as a fully functional touchscreen tablet. When docked, the LCD screen can lay out flat, and the keyboard can even be folded all the way under into an “inverted V” shape. The screen can also become one big fridge magnet. The screen is magnetic and you can stick it to metal. The computer is running a Linux OS with a touchable 3D UI. The preview of the pc will be at DEMO 09 in California. The company plans to ship in Spring of this year with a starting pricetag of $299.
