Microsoft has decided to “automatically” upgrade every existing version of Internet Explorer 6 in the world. There are still at least 8.3% people who are still stuck on the 10 year old insecure browser. Microsoft will start pushing the upgrade next month sometime. Previously as an invite-only, the public beta of Quake Live will be available today at 11:00PM Eastern Time. There is a countdown timer on the the website indicating when we will be able to “frag” each other. I spent alot of time playing Quake.

Google Chrome 2.0 comes with some new features:

Form auto complete, one of the most obvious missing features from the initial release. It is like the auto complete that comes with Firefox.

Spell-checking improvements. You can now enable or disable spell checking in a text field by right-clicking in the field. You can also change the spell-checking language by right clicking.

Import bookmarks from Google Bookmarks.

Over the past 12 months, the IE browser gave up 7.9 points of market share, while the Firefox browser gained 4.5 points and Safari nearly 2.4 points. The new Chrome browser put out by google, released in September of this year, is an entirely new player and Opera was able to add 0.7 points to its usage share and remains just above Netscape, which is still listed at a slowly declining 0.57%.
