You’ve seen them in the movies where you can roll up the keyboard and put it in your bag. The hacker in Die Hard 4 had one. Well, this keyboard is real and available to the public. The keyboard is made from high quality silicone. It is sturdy and extremely portable. The keys are constructed to match a standard keyboard rather than the flat keys found on laptop keyboards. They use a soft touch design on the keys so they do not have the click-click design of other keyboards. This will allow you to use them almost anywhere without disturbing the person beside you.

As for durability, the silicone construction will stand up to twists and tears without damage. The construction is also safe from dust and moisture, so if your not a clean freak don’t worry this baby can take some abuse. The keyboard uses a USB interface so it will work on almost any laptop, you can always have a comfortable and full size keyboard handy.

This is the accessory for any geek. This is one of the items that have form, functionality, and the “WOW” punch all rolled into one bag.

The Logitech® G19 keyboard has a very cool color 320×240 GamePanel LCD which supports several widgets out of the box. Widgets such as Twitter, VOIP, images, system information, game data(rockets, bullets, etc) and also Youtube and you can add more as they come out. It’s pretty nice if you like the Logitech® squishy keyboard feel. The video playback is pretty smooth which is much better than the earlier monochrome screens on the G11 and G15 series.

The keyboard feels about the same as earlier G-series keyboards made by Logitech®. You can custamize the backlight and setup macros for your tasks. The problem with the keyboard is that it requires it’s own power brick, unlike earlier models which get their power directly from the computer. The price on this puppy is around $200 which is a little steep for a keyboard.

GamePanel LCD requires software that supports Logitech® GamePanel™ technology

My keyboard of choice is the IBM M Keyboard. It is just about indestructible. The keys click which I really like being a touch typist. You know when you make a mistake by the sound. I also tend to be a little hard on the keyboard and it continues to survive. The keyboard has a great feel. The keyboard was made in 1989 and I have had one ever since. I have tried many other keyboards, but I always go back to my IBM. I have 3 of them in reserve in case anything happens to mine. I recommend the keyboard highly if you can find one.

You can buy a redesigned model at this location that I found:
Unicomp Keyboards

In 1996, a company called Unicomp bought the Model M design from Lexmark which produced the keyboards for IBM. Unicomp sells replacement parts for older IBM/Lexmark keyboards, and will repair just about any keyboard manufactured by themselves. Their new keyboards are slightly different than the original. The originals can go for $150 or more and the new redesigned models go for about $70.00.

The keys are replaceable if you do wear them out.
