AntiSpyware software recommendations and recommendations on how to stay spyware and virus free.

We use Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and Spybot Search and Destroy to get rid of spyware at the computer store that I run. It is recommended that you run more than one program because not all spyware is detected by any one program. Every computer that comes through the door to be worked on has some spyware and or viruses on it, even though it may have come in for another reason. Plan for several hours of time to run these programs on your system.

If people would just keep their systems updated with Windows updates, a virus scanner, and spyware scanner with their respective updates, they wouldn't have nearly as many problems.

Make sure you don't click on things on the internet promising to fix your problems, these will only cause you to be infected unless you are sure they are reputable websites. Don't open email attachments even if you are sure where they came from, unless you are positive you are supposed to receive it. Your friend's computer may be infected, and their attachment may be infected when it is sent to you in an email, but they may not know it.

Here are some of my antispyware recommendations.

AVAST Free is a good antivirus program.

ADW Cleaner is a good malware cleaner.

I would also consider some good plugins for your browser like Ublock Origin and or Adblock Plus. You will need to go to the extensions for your respective browser Chrome/Firefox or other browser and install these ad blockers. HTTPS Everywhere is also good as it helps encrypt the web security on many sites. I also use minerBlock which blockers cryptocurency miners form taking over your browser.
