Windows 10’s latest Windows Update is deleting some users’ files, October 2018

Windows update

Microsoft released its latest Windows 10 October 2018 Update earlier this week (Version 1809). Some users are reporting that their files are being deleted by the Windows update. Forums such as Reddit are saying that some Windows 10 users are upgrading to the October 2018 Update and having their documents, photos, or even entire user profiles wiped out. Fortunately Microsoft has not started automatically pushing out this update on Windows Update. If you visit the Windows update manually and do the update you may lose your files. You may want to manually set your updates to pause. Here is a Microsoft article to pause your Windows updates. Microsoft is currently investigating the reports. Just another reason to backup your files.
